Radios

  • Without knowing your requirements, I will suggest the GM300 UHF radio. They usually cover 438-470MHz at 25-45W and can be had cheaply. They are easy to interface to, shouldn't have co-site interference issues with existing 2M operations. There are lots of commercial radios out there that will likely work great and can had cheaply due to narrowbanding. Rather than WINMOR, take a look at the UZ7HO soundmodem. It works well and can support 1200/2400/3600bps via a Signalink to typical audio connections. With a different audio interface and appropriate radio interfacing, it can do 9600 as well. Changing out the transceiver for something more appropriate to the need will make a huge difference in performance and usability. 73-KY9K/Brian
